## Overview

Impeccable.style operates across two distinct visual modes that serve different narrative purposes. The dark theme presents a cinematic, technical atmosphere—deep charcoal backgrounds with gold and amber accents, monospace labels, and terminal-inspired code blocks. This mode dominates product messaging and feature showcases, using a dramatic kintsugi-inspired gold crack artwork as a recurring visual motif along the right edge of sections. The light theme shifts to an editorial, documentation-forward tone with warm off-white backgrounds, classical serif headings in Cormorant Garamond, and restrained violet accents for interactive elements.

The system balances these modes through consistent structural logic: generous section spacing, clear typographic hierarchy, and purposeful accent color deployment. The dark theme reads as the product's personality—confident, crafted, anti-generic—while the light theme serves functional content like documentation, changelogs, and FAQs with calmer contrast and longer reading comfort.

The dark theme builds atmosphere through a near-black gradient from oklch(0.07 0.006 95) to oklch(0.04 0.004 95), creating subtle depth without visible banding. Gold (#FFBA00) functions as the emotional anchor—warm, premium, deliberately anti-corporate. The light theme inverts this relationship: near-white backgrounds with dark ink text (#030303), using violet tones sparingly for interactive emphasis and pink-tinged links in FAQ contexts. Both themes share structural colors for borders and separators, adapted to their respective luminance environments.

The typographic system pairs three distinct voices: Alumni Sans for dark theme display (condensed, light weight, technical confidence), Cormorant Garamond for light theme editorial elegance (serif, classical proportions, generous letter-spacing reduction), and Albert Sans as the neutral workhorse for body text across both modes. SF Mono carries all code and label duties with characteristic medium weight and expanded tracking for labels. Instrument Sans handles interactive elements with slightly heavier weight and subtle letter-spacing for button readability.

The supplied font set also includes Applesystem, a system-ui fallback, and Cormorant Garamond-Italic as the specific italic cut of the Cormorant Garamond family. The italic variant appears in legacy captures for subheadings and display emphasis, while current implementations use the main family with weight 300 for similar roles.

Verify licensing for these families before production use. Instrument Sans is designed by Rodrigo Fuenzalida for Frag Type. SF Mono is designed and distributed by Apple Inc. Space Grotesk is designed by Florian Karsten.

## Layout

The layout system employs a centered content column with generous side margins and substantial vertical breathing room. The dark theme uses `margin: 0 6.4rem` (102.5px at 16px root) for main content containment, while interior sections pad `7.5rem` vertically. The light theme narrows to `padding: 0 2rem` with proportional margins around `9.3rem` (149.5px) for certain footer contexts.

Grid structures vary by content type. Feature showcases in the dark theme use staggered card arrangements—cards offset vertically in a masonry-like rhythm without strict column alignment, creating visual dynamism against the rigid terminal blocks. Documentation sections in the light theme use straightforward single-column flows with horizontal rule separators between entries.

Spacing follows a 2px base unit (0.125rem), with common increments at 8px, 16px, 24px, 32px, 48px, and 64px. Section breaks consistently use 120px vertical padding. Card internal spacing sits at 24px. Terminal blocks use asymmetric padding—slightly more left (22px) than right (14px)—to accommodate the command prompt symbol.

## Visual language

The dark theme's signature visual element is the kintsugi-inspired gold crack artwork: a vertical, irregular gold line with textured, almost geological depth, running along the right edge of sections. This motif reinforces the brand narrative of repair, craft, and deliberate imperfection against AI-generated sameness. The artwork uses photographic gold tones that shift between warm amber and deeper bronze, creating organic contrast with the flat UI colors.

Terminal blocks carry strong visual weight through their combination of monospace typography, gold left borders, and dark fills. The `$` prompt symbol and copy icon establish immediate CLI recognition. Feature cards use subtle 1px borders in near-black tones, with small geometric icons—circles, arcs, squares—in gold or white depending on hierarchy.

The light theme abandons ornament for clarity. Horizontal rules in warm gray separate content sections. Inline code uses pill-shaped backgrounds in light violet tints. Accordion interactions reveal content with pink-toned links against the neutral ground. The overall impression is of a well-typeset document rather than a product interface.

## Responsive behavior

The design maintains its dual-mode character across viewport sizes, with key adaptations for narrower screens. The dark theme's staggered card grid should collapse to a single column with consistent vertical spacing, preserving the card aesthetic while losing the masonry offset. The kintsugi artwork scales proportionally or hides below medium breakpoints to prevent horizontal overflow.

The light theme's generous margins compress to standard container padding (16–24px) on mobile, with heading sizes stepping down by approximately 25%. FAQ accordion items maintain their full-width treatment with touch-appropriate tap targets (minimum 44px height for expand/collapse areas).

Terminal blocks should remain horizontally scrollable rather than wrapping, preserving command readability. Code font size may reduce to 0.875rem on small screens to prevent excessive line breaking.

## Practical implementation guidance

### Preserve
- The dual-mode architecture: dark for product/marketing, light for documentation
- Gold accent discipline—use #FFBA00 sparingly as the primary emotional signal
- Monospace label styling with expanded tracking for section prefixes
- Staggered card offsets in dark theme feature grids
- Cormorant Garamond's tight letter-spacing for light theme headings
- Generous section spacing (120px) as a brand signature

### Avoid
- Mixing dark and light theme elements within a single section
- Using the gold accent for large background fills—reserve for borders, text, and small indicators
- Generic card grids without the intentional vertical offset
- Body text smaller than 0.875rem in either theme
- Pure black (#000000) as primary background—use #0B0B0B or #030303 for warmth

### Recommended build order
1. Establish root gradient and base dark background
2. Implement typography scale with Albert Sans body and Alumni Sans display
3. Build terminal block component with gold left border and SF Mono text
4. Create feature card with subtle border and icon slot
5. Add staggered grid layout with variable top margins
6. Implement light theme override with Cormorant Garamond headings
7. Build FAQ accordion with expand/collapse state
8. Add kintsugi artwork as positioned decorative element

### Accessibility
- Dark theme body text at #D7D7D7 on #0B0B0B provides approximately 8.6:1 contrast, exceeding WCAG AAA
- Light theme ink text at #030303 on #F8F8F8 exceeds 15:1 contrast
- Gold accent #FFBA00 on dark backgrounds achieves 7.2:1, suitable for large text and UI components but verify for small text
- Ensure terminal blocks have visible focus indicators; the gold border can serve as focus state enhancement
- Provide `prefers-reduced-motion` respect for any staggered card entrance animations
- Light theme link colors in FAQ should maintain 4.5:1 minimum against background

## Scope note

This guide covers the landing page and documentation surfaces of impeccable.style as visible in the supplied captures. The dark theme's full feature catalog, interactive command demonstrations, and any motion behaviors are not represented. The light theme's complete FAQ and changelog entries are partially shown. Measurements derive from the retained interface data with font sizes snapped to the 2px base grid where exact values were not recorded.
